Training and Apprenticeships

Industrial Management
(with optional additional qualification in European Management)

An international company like DORMA needs professionals able to guarantee the smooth handling of its many and varied commercial processes. Our industrial management assistants take care of purchasing and sales, accounting and logistics. They remain in constant contact with customers, colleagues and business partners. The apprenticeships we offer therefore encompass disciplines such as material management, personnel management and accounting, while also being very much hands-on and practically aligned.

We place great emphasis on encouraging the acquisition of international qualifications and skills, enabling our apprentices to gain the additional European management qualification of “Europakaufmann/Europakauffrau” as part of their initial professional training. This additional qualification covers the fields of communications and correspondence in English and a further foreign language (e.g. Spanish, French or Russian), a European Computer Driving License (ECDL), international business processes with an IHK (Chamber of Trade and Commerce) certificate, and also a foreign internship. You will find more information on the BBS Haarentor website (www.bbs-haarentor.de).

Minimum requirements:
Intermediate school graduation certificate, high school graduation certificate or equivalent technical college entrance qualification

Duration of apprenticeship:
3 years

Engineering Mechanic

Engineering mechanics are responsible for the manufacture, assembly, upgrade, refurbishment or repair of metal constructions. You fabricate the individual components of your assembly or construction on the basis of technical drawings and parts lists, working initially in the production department. The skills you will learn will include the bending, folding, sawing and drilling of sheet metal and plate, and cutting with the aid of mechanical or machine-based processes, usually with the aim of screw fastening to create the assembly. Your training with us will focus on equipment engineering.

Minimum requirements:
Good secondary school or vocational extension certificate, intermediate school graduation certificate or technical college entrance qualification, ideally gained with BGJ Metall or a similar technical/vocational college

Duration of apprenticeship:
3.5 years

Technical Product Designer

Technical product designers support engineers in the development of industrially manufactured equipment. They draft, design and adapt components and assemblies using 3D CAD programs. They are also required to calculate all the technical data for the planned workpieces. While adhering to technical requirements is important, you will also be expected to take into account aspects such as different materials and production methods for each design. Using computer simulation, Technical Product Designers are able to determine whether their creation will also withstand the stresses and strains of practical usage. Your training with us will focus on product design and mechanical engineering.

Minimum requirements:
Intermediate school graduation certificate, high school graduation certificate or equivalent technical college entrance qualification

Duration of apprenticeship:
3.5 years
