Westerstede/Ocholt. February 2014 saw the start of the completion phase of the extension of the World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB). Contracts worth €40 million were awarded and one of the large contracts went to DORMA Hüppe Raumtrennsysteme GmbH + Co. KG, a subsidiary of the DORMA Group, which is located in the Lower Saxon town of Ocholt.
The company supplied 14 Variflex Room Dividing Systems with a total of 261 operating elements and a total length of over 300 meters. This is the largest domestic contract that DORMA Hüppe has been awarded since becoming part of the DORMA Group. The decision to choose room dividing systems from DORMA Hüppe as strong and reliable supplier with extensive experience in relation to trade fairs and convention centers was equally influenced by a number of different factors: In addition to compliance with the tight delivery schedule and deadlines, the obvious product advantages were decisive. Theses advantages mean that the entire Variflex System offers constructional and functional flexibility and meets the demands posed by the building on especially high room dividing systems.
Alone in the congress area of the new WCCB, ten room dividing systems ranging in height from 3.3 and 7.6 meters have been installed. The frontrunners when it comes to the largest dimensions are the four systems for the large hall. Two of these four systems are an impressive 10.5 meters high and cover a total length of 39 meters. The other two systems in the large hall are up to 6.8 meters in height, with each measuring a total length of 42 meters. In the case of the large systems, a particular mechanical system is employed in order to relieve the stress on the ceilings by slightly lifting the parked elements. The total surface area of the room dividing systems that DORMA Hüppe will have supplied for the WCCB by the autumn will amount to 2,200 square meters.
"As early as the summer of next year, it will be possible to provide the visitors and delegations at the important upcoming international events and UN conferences with the corresponding space they require at the new prestige building in Bonn thanks to our room dividing systems", Rainer Scholzen, Director Complementary Building Products (CBP) EMEA is both pleased and proud to be able to announce.
